Dr Aholelei, a General Surgeon at Vaiola Hospital, has dedicated her 19-year career to serving the people of Tonga and advocating for improved health outcomes. Her unwavering commitment is reflected in her passion for patient care and her drive to elevate healthcare standards in the Pacific region.
“The most fulfilling part of my practice is saving a life and witnessing the joy and peace it brings to patients, their families, and communities. I take pride in pushing the boundaries within the Pacific to raise our standards of care and advocating for those patients who may not have a voice or need help to amplify it.”
A long-standing member and valued friend of PMA, Dr Aholelei has also been an essential focal point for visiting medical teams deployed to Tonga under the New Zealand Medical Treatment Scheme (NZMTS).
At the upcoming Symposium, Dr Aholelei will speak on "Growing Leadership – Strengthening Country Capacity." Reflecting on what she looks forward to, she says, “I am excited to learn from the high calibre of speakers, panellists, and colleagues from across the region, New Zealand, and Australia. I am particularly keen to understand how countries navigate and overcome the challenges of developing clinical capacity and leadership.”
