Updates / News, 13 Apr 26
The Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) will be celebrating their 30th anniversary at their annual PMA Conference, which will be held at Due Drop Events Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from the 5th - 7th August 2026. This Conference will honour thirty years of legacy under the theme: "The pathway to leadership is service – showcasing 30 years of service, innovation and excellence."

PMA President, Dr Kiki Maoate ONZM FRACS, acknowledges the significant journey of PMA over the last three decades.

"This milestone reflects the leadership and service that our Pacific health leaders, clinicians, managers, allied health workers, researchers and communities have shown both in New Zealand, and in the wider Pacific region, to ensure the health and wellbeing of our Pacific people are well-cared and advocated for.

"Many of our Pacific health leaders who were there at the beginning of PMA's journey are no longer with us, but we can see their legacy come to life through this new generation of Pacific health professionals every day – that makes us overwhelmingly proud."

The Conference will unite knowledge holders, innovators and emerging leaders across the full continuum of health to share, discuss and contribute to the following sub-themes:

  • Serving through knowledge: Pacific-led research driving better health

  • Service in action: Integrated people-centred care for Pacific families

  • Excellence as service: Quality, clinical leadership and advanced care

  • Digital service: AI, innovation and technology for Pacific wellbeing

  • Serving the future: Building a resilient, skilled and future-ready Pacific health sector

Conference Convenor, Dr Josephine Aumea Herman, looks forward to the robust discussions ahead to bolster the future of Pacific health.

“Together, we celebrate over three decades of Pacific excellence in health while boldly shaping a future health system that delivers equitable, culturally grounded care for all in New Zealand and across the Pacific region.”

The Conference is now open for registrations and welcome abstract submissions to present here
